Green Flag, the breakdown cover provider, is celebrating five incredible decades of service and is offering people a voucher for a portion of fish and chips from The Frying Squad in three locations across the UK; London, Manchester and Bristol.

With fifty years under their belt, Green Flag wants to celebrate the milestone by going back to its humble beginnings in their salt and vinegar filled headquarters above a fish ‘n’ chip shop. Plus, there is no catch – apart from the fish itself – as all people have to do is turn up to one of the three locations, collect a voucher and redeem their free fish ‘n’ chip lunch from The Frying Squad’s van.

However, as with any freebie – people will need to get down there quickly, as it’s first come first served and we’re only giving away 300 portions in each location.

The three lucky plaices serving up The Frying Squad’s tasty grub include:

Piccadilly Gardens in Manchester on 21st September, from 11am – 3pm
Cabot Circus in Bristol on 22nd September, from 11am – 3pm
Cardinal Place, London on 24th September, from 11am – 3pm

Research reveals the most British dish of all time is fish and chips, securing an incredible 69 per cent of the vote, beating a full English breakfast (60 per cent) and a Sunday roast (57 per cent) to the post. Green Flag also highlighted potential British dishes going extinct, with not even a tenth of those polled voting for black pudding (8 per cent) or Eton mess (5 per cent) as the most British dish.

The research went on to show the ultimate way to enjoy a fish and chip meal is by the seaside (54 per cent) followed by eating with fingers (44 per cent), over a knife and fork (19 per cent). Half of the nation (50 per cent) admitted to enjoying the meal the nostalgic way – wrapped in newspaper.
