Foodhub pokes Halloween fun at rivals with audacious out of home campaign
Online takeaway giant Foodhub has executed a bold new out of home Halloween campaign poking fun at its competitor brands.
The new campaign follows the runaway success of its headline-grabbing Just-Delete activity.
Foodhub launched Just-Delete in 2020, a brazen campaign that encouraged customers to delete apps from the likes of Just Eat, Uber Eats, and Deliveroo in exchange for a free meal.
Following its immense success – gathering a record number of app downloads and provoking thousands of new orders – the Stoke-on-Trent-based firm is now at it again after successfully executing ‘Ghost the Competition’, pitting the brand up against its challengers once again.
Customers were asked to prove they had forsaken the competition by visiting a dedicated web page, where they could claim a free £10 voucher to use on a meal at a takeaway restaurant of their choice.
Both campaigns were backed by Love Island star Alex Bowen, while the Ghost the Competition has also been supported by his wife Olivia Bowen, whom he met on the hit ITV reality TV series.
The campaign was an instant success, with discount codes promoted by Alex and Olivia on Instagram maxing out immediately, on the day they were shared to followers.
Foodhub launched Ghost the Competition three weeks ago – in good time for Halloween – by placing a series of billboards in major cities across the UK, including Manchester, Birmingham, Liverpool, Nottingham, and Leeds.
Passers-by were encouraged to to scan a QR code featured on the spooky-themed billboard, taking them to a landing page where they can claim their £10 voucher.
The Manchester billboard was accompanied by a suitably spooky six metre tall ghost, bearing a QR code which customers scanned to order their tasty treat at a discounted price.
Such was customer demand, all Ghost the Competition £10 vouchers were used up before lunchtime on the day they launched.
A separate 10% off code was also maxed out over the launch weekend.
Thanks to Foodhub’s non-commission model, Foodhub is on average 15% cheaper than when customers order the exact same meal via Just Eat, Uber Eats and Deliveroo
Ardian Mula, CEO at Foodhub, said: “After the fantastic success of ‘Just-Delete, we thought we should revisit the concept this Halloween.
“Our Ghost the Competition campaign is tongue-in-cheek, fun, and provocative. After all, it’s not Halloween without a playful trick (or treat!).
“But behind the cheeky delivery, there is a valid and serious point. Customers are better off ordering with Foodhub because we operate a non-commission model, and therefore meals are 15% cheaper compared to the competition.
“With Foodhub, customers are guaranteed scarily good prices. What a treat!”
