Football Beyond Borders and Paramount Pictures UK join forces to create The #SumotherCup charity tournament

To celebrate the release of Sumotherhood, only in cinemas from 13th October, Paramount Pictures UK will be hosting the #SumotherCup, a celebrity football tournament in aid of education and football charity Football Beyond Borders.

#SumotherCup will take place at the Westway Sports Centre on Monday 9th October from 6pm. The tournament will consist of 7 games with 8 teams, from popular grassroots football clubs, to the Sumotherhood Cast and influencers, who will compete against one another to reach the final and lift the cherished #SumotherCup trophy. The award presentation will be hosted by the film’s Director, Adam Deacon, alongside some of the other talent from the film.

This is in line with FBB’s reward trips programme where up to 30 young people will be invited to participate, engage in activities and meet some of the talent from the movie.

In addition to FBB’s young people, a range of media, talent & content creators will be in attendance at the tournament where they will be able to partake in pre-tournament activities with an opportunity to win exclusive prizes and enjoy the variety of food & beverages that will be provided by German Doner Kebab and XIX Premium Vodka.

Football Beyond Borders works with young people from areas of socio-economic disadvantage who are passionate about football but disengaged at school, to help them finish school with the skills and grades to make a successful transition into adulthood. They do this by providing long-term, intensive support, built around relationships and young people’s passions, in the classroom and beyond.

From the mind of BAFTA Rising Star Adam Deacon comes Sumotherhood, a parody of the UK urban genre where Riko and Kane have got it all … big dreams, no respect and a fifteen grand debt. Could things get any worse?
Yes! So, it’s time to man up and finally be taken seriously as “Roadmen”. Once putting their heads together on various ways to make some money, they decide to rob a megastar in a nightclub toilet and hold up the local bank but things inevitably don’t go to plan!! However, somehow a misunderstanding leads them to be desired and acquired for business with one of East London’s toughest firms, putting them in the line of fire to the firm’s arch-rivals.

Can Riko and Kane live up to their name? Will Riko win the affection of Tamara and if he does, will Tyrese, Tamara’s lunatic stepbrother, allow Riko to live? Will his life be worth living if the local London Feds draw a line back to our duo? Anything can happen when Riko and Kane are on the scene in this new action-packed urban comedy.

SUMOTHERHOOD IS ONLY IN CINEMAS FROM OCTOBER 13
