Forget à la carte it’s all about à la can. ASDA and MasterChef’s Dean Edwards create 3 course tin-spirational meal made from tins for £3.67 - London TV

Forget à la carte it’s all about à la can. ASDA and MasterChef’s Dean Edwards create 3 course tin-spirational meal made from tins for £3.67

With many households looking to make savvy food swaps to save money, ASDA has teamed up with MasterChef veteran, Dean Edwards, to challenge stereotypes and create a 3-course tin-spirational meal made from tins, fine dining food for a fraction of the price. For as little as £3.67 pp versus £42.80 at popular restaurants.

Despite seeing a tin renaissance in recent months (72.6% YOY, Kantar 2020), a poll of 2,000 Brits revealed that almost half (48%) still turn their nose up at tinned food (especially millennials 76%), and would only use them as a ‘last resort’ when they don’t have anything fresh (23%). Research also showed half (48%) would eat chicken fresh, but not from a can, and 41% said this about mushrooms, 38% about beef, and 36% about pasta.

To debunk myths around canned food once and for all, Asda wants the nation to forget à la carte, because it’s all about à la CAN. ASDA’s three-course meal – curated by Dean Edwards – will shock the nation, giving Brits a taste of what they can do with cans on a shoestring budget.

Asda challenged Dean to hero the humble tin and create mouth-watering, restaurant-worthy meals using some of these products.

Dean Edwards, comments: “There’s so much you can do with tinned food that Brits are yet to discover. I jumped at the chance to partner with Asda, to help expand the nation’s cooking repertoire and save money at the same time.

From fine dining Fishcakes to Chicken Wellington with a twist, I can’t wait for people to try these recipes at home and realise just how easy it is to create the fine dining feel and taste at home and stretch budgets further with a culinary can-do attitude.”
