Four local councillors joined housing association A2Dominion to mark ‘Big Impact Day’ for residents in Brentford.

Labour councillors Marina Sharma (Brentford East), Rhys Williams (Brentford East), Lara Parizotto (Brentford West) and Guy Lambert (Brentford West), joined A2Dominion staff, business partners and volunteers at Jantzen House for the resident-focused open day on Thursday 27 July.

The event organised by A2Dominion supported local residents from Great West Quarter and Baltic Avenue and aimed to make a positive difference to them by carrying out practical tasks and highlighting the important services that are available.

More than 30 residents took the opportunity to speak one-to-one with their landlord and councillors about local matters, while several workshops were set up to offer support and advice on matters including tenancy and employment.

A2Dominion partners Pyramid Plus were on-hand to carry out same-day maintenance work. More than 50 minor jobs were completed, ranging from window repairs, light bulb replacements and painting of communal areas.

Contractors Rose Property Services were in attendance to remove any unwanted bulk items and clear garden waste.

A2Dominion staff including an employment adviser, tenancy sustainment officer and a neighbourhood manager were also available to answer questions and share details about some of the schemes of offer to residents.

Julie Brooker, Communities Partner (Social Value) at A2Dominion, said: “It was pleasing to see so many people engaging with the event. We know times are tough for many people right now and we hope today has helped to alleviate some of those worries and show that there is support out there.”

Cllr Sharma said: “It’s good to see A2Dominion here today wanting to engage with leaseholders and residents. We can only be better if we work together.”

Cllr Parizotto added: “I think it’s really valuable to have a day dedicated to customers. They reach out to us when they find it difficult to get issues resolved so this is positive for them to feel heard, and hopefully some of those issues can be resolved today.”
