Brand new restaurant community app Appetite, announces the launch of ‘Appetite Drops’, allowing consumers to discover new places to eat and unlock weekly free dishes and tabs from restaurants across the UK, including unlimited FREE pizzas from Fatto a Mano in London on 4-8 March.

Appetite is an all-in-one destination for foodies to discover great restaurants, effortlessly coordinate plans with friends, and secure bookings. Its most recent feature, Appetite Drops, aims to enable its users to discover new places and eat for free, whilst bringing its restaurant partners a new audience who will fall in love with their offering and continue to go back.

Following the success of its first drop at Mediterranean hot spot Miznon Soho where hundreds of city dwellers queued for free pitas, Appetite will now unlock weekly free meal drops and dish giveaways. Its line up includes a five day giveaway of free pizza from pizzeria Fatto a Mano in Covent Garden on 4-8 March as well as the first in house dining experience drop from Lilienblum restaurant on 7 February. All consumers need to do is simply show the Appetite app on their phone to claim their free dishes. Appetite Drops are also planned to feature across the UK in major cities including Manchester and Bristol.

The app, which launched in November 2023, was born to simplify the entire dining process of planning and booking a meal out by letting users share dining recommendations, sync calendars, vote on dining options and secure reservations. It also leverages AI and word-of-mouth recommendations to offer users personalised suggestions for restaurants and bars helping to shine a light on independent restaurants.

Founded by brothers Toby and James Green, the duo set out on a mission to correct the frustrating process of booking a meal out with friends using various platforms, and solve the very low conversion rate customers have after discovering a new restaurant. Following National research* which found 92% of Gen Z Brits are willing to travel to dine at a social media famous venue and 38% of Brits would spend more at a restaurant that has gone viral, Toby and James decided to leverage the viral effects of allowing users to rave about their favourite spots. They also understood the importance of creating an authentic, non-marketing driven food community for people to share their restaurant insights with the people they trust, following insight that 38% of people said they discover restaurants through friends and family.

Appetite’s Founder, James Green commented: “We’re very excited to be announcing the launch of Appetite Drops as part of Appetite, which looks to reward our community of users by giving away free dishes, whilst also enabling exposure to our restaurant partners, resulting in return bookings. We know everyone loves free food!

We created Appetite knowing a lot of people love eating out with their friends, but actually getting the meal organised is most often a painful process and involves dozens of messages in a group chat, aligning calendars, plus checking reviews, and trying to book a table. We wanted to create a one-stop-shop to complete this entire process which is also authentically authorised by the people you know and not driven by marketing tools, whilst also rewarding our users at the same time. No food discovery platform has looked at solving discovery in this way and we’re really excited to be the pioneers.”

Appetite completed a $2 million seed round in July 2023, and has already seen success pre-launch with 10,000 user sign ups. It now has more than 5,000 recommended restaurants plus over 15,000 messages on the app.
