Free VR Festival comes to Merton

Showcasing state of the art immersive technologies, Mitcham VR Festival will close FilmMerton, the year-long community arts outreach project in south west London, on Saturday 7th March.

This incredible and free one-day event will present Virtual Reality and 360-degree films, giving visitors the opportunity to engage with a broad range of movies. Highlights include Gloomy Eyes, starring Colin Farrell, and Judi Dench: My Oak Tree VR where viewers can fly through Dame Judi Dench’s garden.

All the Fun of the Fair will enable visitors to step into their local history through an Augmented Reality installation: audiences will be transported from 2020 to the historic Mitcham Fair using smart phones and a unique soundscape will bring photos to life. The festival will also see the premiere of four specially commissioned short films made in Merton from both established and emerging artists, three of whom are Mitcham residents.
