Fun Things You Really Should Do In And Around Camden

Camden is one of London’s hippest neighbourhoods and millions of tourists stop by the area a short walk from Euston and King’s Cross each and every year to sample the culture and history of the borough.

There’s tons to do in and around Camden, but what are the most fun? Well, we’re here to help with our run down of exactly what you should be doing when you walk up those steps from the Camden Town tube stop…

Shop at Camden Market

For those arriving in Camden in the morning or early afternoon then your first point of call should almost certainly be the market.

The hustle and bustle of the market is brilliant, with a lively atmosphere and tons of hidden gems available to pick up. The Modfather Clothing Co. is a great place to mod your look up, with the area a key part of the mod movement, and you may even find Paul Weller’s sister working there.

Elsewhere, inside the market there are hundreds of stalls, while don’t forget to say hello to the great Amy Winehouse, whose memorial statue is located within the market.

Enjoy the Pubs

The pubs in Camden are stuff of legends and no matter where you go there’s every chance you’ll bump into a famous, or soon-to-be-famous, musician. It’s a hub of music and the pubs play a big part in that.

The Dublin Castle has a long and rich history in Camden’s musical heritage and is always worth a stop off for a pint. It’s the pub where Madness first came to the attention of bigger audiences and catapulted them to fame, while The Hawley Arms is another popular destination for music lovers, and a popular hangout for many a famous face. It was once a drinking spot for Amy Winehouse, not to mention the likes of Noel Fielding, Kate Moss and Mark Ronson.

Elsewhere, The World’s End, The Oxford Arms and The Ice Wharf are also popular stops,

Play Bingo

When it comes to activities there is also plenty going on in Camden. A tour around the Camden Brewery is an excellent idea for the beer lovers among you, while for something quintessentially British, why not head for a game of bingo?

The rise of William Hill promo codes and other online promotions in the UK has been staggering over the last few years thanks to the take-off of online and mobile gambing, with brand new variants appealing to a whole new generation of player. That’s spilling into the bingo halls around the country and none more so than Camden where you’ll find a really lively set-up in a number of the town’s halls.

It’s a great way to start an evening in Camden, before spilling out following a bingo session to head to a gig.

Go To A Gig

No trip to Camden is complete without a gig. Such is the area’s musical prowess it even has its own Hall of Fame style walk.

Each night the pubs, bars and concert halls welcome bands and artists of all genres, many of which go onto full stadiums worldwide further down their careers. Bands such as The Who, The Libertines and Blur all cut their teeth in the area, alongside Madness and Amy Winehouse to name a few.

You’ll still find big names here too, with the Roundhouse a beautiful venue for big international acts, but it’s all about the intimate gigs. You never know, it could turn out to be one of those “I was there” moments.
