Funding for local voluntary and community sector and charity organisations to tackle hate crimes
Are you a community group, with experience of offering support service to victims of hate crimes?
To make sure everyone in the Royal Borough of Greenwich is safer and people do not face discrimination, the Council is offering up to £90,000 per annum for local organisations to aid community members in reporting hate crimes and providing support to aid their recovery.
Councillor Adel Khaireh, Cabinet Member for Equality, Culture and Communities, said “At the Royal Borough of Greenwich, we are committed to ensuring that everyone feels safe and supported.
“Hate crimes can have a huge mental, emotional and physical impact on victims. Those affected often require help to build confidence to report the crime to police and other services or access the necessary support.
“We are grateful to our voluntary and community sector who already provide so much support for residents. Through these grants, the Council are offering a further boost to community groups and organisations who provide aid to those in need.
“If your organisation has the experience, knowledge and skills to provide a hate crime service that could help support hate crime victims and raise awareness on how to take action within the borough, send in an application today and help us create a better, safer Royal Greenwich.”
Successful local organisations awarded the grant will receive funding for a 3.5-year period from 1 January 2024 to 31 March 2027. In the application, each organisation should include their plans to use funding, whether you will use it towards advocacy, awareness events, or other types of aid.
To apply, contact [email protected] for the application form and specification. Applications close on 17 September at 5pm.
