Galliard Homes curate a themed “Royal balcony” at their development Wimbledon Grounds

To celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee bank holiday weekend from Thursday 2nd to Sunday 5th of June, Galliard Homes have curated a themed balcony at their development Wimbledon Grounds fit for any royal. Wimbledon Grounds, a development of 602 one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments on Plough Lane in Wimbledon, offers many homes with outdoor balconies which provide the perfect setting for homeowners to host Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

Adorned with royal and British themed decorations in red, white, blue and purple colour schemes, the Galliard Interior Design Team have cultivated the Jubilee celebration area on the balcony of one of the luxurious three-bedroom apartments in Stadia 3, one of two apartment buildings in the development. The expansive open plan kitchen, living and dining area of the apartment opens onto a 118 sq ft balcony which overlooks a lovely grass courtyard complete with trees and planting. The decorated balcony created by Galliard is a celebration of the British monarchy and presents inspiration for all homeowners to get creative with the balcony or garden space in their own homes.

To create a space fit for the Jubilee celebrations, Galliard have used union jack-patterned cushions, bunting and tablecloths along with royal-themed trinkets and memorabilia to capture the essence of Britishness that the Jubilee represents. Using a colour palette of soft summer pinks, creams and blues to create a neutral setting against the boldness of the royal blues, reds and purples, the design team carefully curated easy to source furnishings, ornaments and plants to assemble a space that could transform from a summery picnic spot by day, to a cosy atmosphere at night complete with festoon lights and candles- perfect for all-day celebrations across the bank holiday weekend.

To emphasise the meaning behind the balcony, Galliard have wrapped the sliding glass doors of the balcony with a film which depicts a corgi dog, the Queen’s favourite, dressed in a royal gown and crown sat on a luxurious floral armchair. The backdrop image is emblazoned with the phrase “The Platinum celebration in style” along with the official Platinum Jubilee logo and Galliard’s own 30th anniversary logo either side, a celebration of both anniversaries.

In the right-hand corner of the balcony on a cream and black outdoor rug is a large cream sofa bench to allow for comfort within the space. Providing a splash of colour against the neutral tones of the sofa and rug, a sea-green metal table and set of chairs placed close to the edge of the balcony offers space for outdoor dining and drinks, whilst a chrome-coloured feature shelving unit stands against the edge of the balcony which is used to display various ornaments and plants. The use of furniture creates different zones on the balcony, utilising the space to its full potential.

Foliage and hanging plants decorate the balcony, creating a gardenesque setting which brings the outdoor space to life. The team at Galliard used planter boxes hung on the railings of the balcony to exhibit a beautiful array of white and pale blue flowers which complement the union jack decorations. Hanging foliage and baskets filled with white flowers adorn the ceiling of the balcony while ivy climbs the trellis placed against the balcony railings, intertwined with Jubilee themed bunting.

The Jubilee balcony created by Galliard illustrates how simple it is to transform a small space into a fun colourful area for hosting over the bank holiday weekend. With all prospective purchasers in mind, Galliard used cost effective ideas and sourced many of the easy-to-obtain themed items from local souvenir shops, garden centres and contemporary online shops such as IKEA with fast at-home delivery.

Emily Galman, Interior Designer at Galliard says: “We are thrilled our Jubilee themed Balcony at Wimbledon Grounds. We wanted to create a space that was modern and contemporary whilst still honouring the traditional aspect that the Jubilee represents. Using a mixture of modern furnishings, hanging lights and plants combined with traditional British memorabilia, we turned the balcony into a fun summertime retreat in time for the Jubilee bank holiday weekend.”

David Galman, Sales Director at Galliard Homes comments: “We are delighted to be honouring the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in such a unique and fun way. Many of the stylish apartments at Wimbledon Grounds have private balconies which not only provide fantastic views but give homeowners the space to host parties for friends and family and enjoy the outdoor space while being in an apartment building- our wonderfully curated balcony exemplifies this. Wimbledon Grounds is one of our most exciting projects- a landmark mixed-use development that is playing a major role in the regeneration of the local area and town centre.”

Wimbledon Grounds is a 54,000 sq ft mixed-use regeneration scheme adjoining the brand-new and fully built stadium of AFC Wimbledon at the club’s original home on Plough Lane. The development brings a new community to Plough Lane, with two buildings Stadia One and Stadia Three providing a mixture of one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments. Residents can enjoy premier specifications as well as access to private external space in the form of either a balcony or roof terrace, whilst lifestyle facilities include an extensive hospitality suite within the adjacent stadium, retail facilities, plus a squash and fitness club. Two communal landscaped gardens feature at the development while a new public realm with a dedicated cycle route is also part of this exciting scheme.

Wimbledon, located in Zone 3 of London is a wonderful place to live- offering a unique village lifestyle which sets it apart from the rest, whilst benefitting from all the capital has to offer, including London’s excellent transport connections. Residents at Wimbledon Grounds have access to the District and Northern lines, both within a 21-minute walk and Earlsfield station only an 18-minute walk away which takes you into Clapham Junction in only three minutes.

Homes at Wimbledon Grounds are currently available for £329,000 for a studio, £455,000 for a one-bedroom apartment, £570,000 for a two-bedroom apartment, £695,000 for a three-bedroom apartment and £825,000 for a three-bedroom maisonette.
