GB NEWS INVESTS IN NEW WESTMINSTER STUDIO COMPLEX

GB News is investing in a major new multi-studio broadcast centre in the heart of Westminster.

Extensive works have already begun to upgrade an existing studio complex into a high-tech digital production facility. GB News currently uses a single studio near Parliament.

Incoming Head of Politics Christopher Hope and Deputy Political Editor Tom Harwood will lead a team of journalists to be based at the new site, which is very close to the House of Commons.

Editorial Director Mick Booker said the move underpinned GB News’ commitment to politics and its aim to be the UK’s Number One news channel by 2028.

“The next election will be decided largely in the Red Wall, in the very areas where we have some of our strongest audiences,” he said. “They care about politics, so we care about politics.”

He added: “Our mission as The People’s Channel is to tell the people what’s really happening in politics and, vitally, to ensure their voices are heard back by the decision-makers in Westminster.”

GB News has boosted its political clout with a host of recent appointments including Jacob Rees-Mogg, Lee Anderson, Nigel Nelson and Camilla Tominey, who have joined a strong established team of presenters including former Labour frontbencher Gloria De Piero.

The channel will announce further political hires in coming months, as well as unveiling several new programmes to be broadcast from the Westminster studios.

Head of Technology and Operations Stephen Willmott said: “The new facility will be a big boost to our production capability, both for broadcast and for digitally exclusive content and podcasts. It will also allow us to complete an ongoing upgrade of our main studios.”

The new facility, which will be commercially available, will go live later this year.
