Give your wardrobe a new lease of life at Livat Hammersmith’s FREE Mending Circle Workshops

Calling all fashionistas of West London! This March, Livat Hammersmith will launch The Mending Circle; a series of free workshops to help visitors give old clothes a new lease of life.

To kickstart the series, Livat Hammersmith has partnered with Mary Horesh from Ealing Repairs Café who will host a workshop on March 23rd and Marisol Cordoba from La Modista London to lead a session on March 25th. They will offer visitors different techniques on how to mend and update old clothes. – helping to give their wardrobes a sustainable and cost-effective make-over.

The Mending Circle will operate in a drop-in style, with either 20-minute workshops using a sewing machine or 1-hour workshops on hand sewing. All materials will be provided, including textiles, fabric patches, needles and thread; as well as written instructions that visitors can take home. Livat will also provide visitors with ‘fika’: a traditional Swedish treat of warm drinks and pastries.

The workshops are part of Livat Hammersmith’s participation in the London Recycles Repair Week initiative; an annual celebration of repair where people from across the capital are invited to gain repair skills and to fall back in love with their belongings. Livat has designed the workshops in partnership with Ealing Repairs Café and La Modista London to inspire people to gain the skills necessary to mend their clothes, providing sustainable solutions for the local community.

Since opening its doors last year, Livat has become a pillar of the local community, with regular events designed to inspire and support the many people of Hammersmith and Fulham to live healthier, more sustainable lives.
