The Blue Box connects with Bluetooth-enabled medical devices to monitor vital signs such as blood pressure, oxygen saturation, pulse, and respiratory rate. Using the NHS-developed National Early Warning Score 2 (NEWS2) system, it delivers an instant health status score through a clear traffic-light indicator. It can also support urine analysis to detect infections early, particularly important for identifying UTIs, a common cause of hospitalisation among older adults.

In Richmond, the Blue Box is already proving its value. During a routine demonstration with a member of the care team, the system picked up on health readings that led to the discovery of an underlying condition that the individual had not previously been aware of. This real-life example highlights the potential of the technology not only to support clients but also to safeguard the wellbeing of care professionals.

As well as offering this service to clients, the team has been providing free health checks to members of the public at local events, and will continue to do so over the Winter months.
