An estimated 38% of women in the UK live with chronic pain, many without access to the support they need[1]. Property developer Gracie Group has donated £1,500 to West Hampstead Women’s Centre, helping to fund physiotherapy sessions delivered through the centre’s holistic wellbeing programme.
Through a range of groups, classes and support services, the charity helps improve the lives of local women while fostering a strong sense of community via regular events and activities.
Many of the centre’s members’ face complex health needs and rely on its services to access support that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable. Gracie Group’s donation will provide 45 physiotherapy sessions for women over 50 on low incomes and to those living with cancer, mobility issues, arthritis, chronic pain or delayed NHS surgery. The sessions are designed to improve physical wellbeing, ease tension and carry out daily activities.
The donation forms part of Gracie Group’s commitment to supporting communities in the areas where it builds homes. Its nearby development, The Clay Yard, is located a short walk from the centre.
Julia Tint from West Hampstead Women’s Centre commented: “We are so grateful for Gracie Group’s donation. It will make a lasting difference to our visitors’ health and wellbeing and ensure we can continue to offer our therapy sessions in a safe, women-only environment, where women can focus on recovery. We are passionate about improving women’s lives, and support from organisations such as Gracie Group enables us to continue delivering these vital services.”
Paul Godfrey, CEO at Gracie Group, added: “As the community around The Clay Yard continues to grow, we are committed to supporting organisations that make a genuine difference to local residents. These physiotherapy sessions will provide access to care for women who may otherwise be unable to receive it, and we are pleased to support the important work carried out by West Hampstead Women’s Centre.”
