GREENE KING LAUNCH “INVISIBLE” MAC(MILLAN) AND CHEESE
Greene King, the UK’s leading pub company and brewer, launches its first-ever invisible Mac(millan) and Cheese to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Celebrating Greene King’s ten-year partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support, the pub company has added the invisible side dish to its menus, giving customers the chance to make a special charity donation.
Whilst customers won’t receive a plate of their usual Mac and Cheese, the limited-edition menu item acts as a way for customers to add the charity donation to their food bill.
From 23rd to 31st May, customers can make a £1 donation to Macmillan by adding an “invisible” Mac(millan) and Cheese to their orders via the Greene King order and pay app at selected Greene King pubs [www.greenekingpubs.co.uk/macmillan-cheese/faqs].
What’s more, Greene King has also launched its very first nationwide prize draw to commemorate the decade long partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support.
The charity prize draw runs right through until the 30th of June, and entrants will be in with a chance of winning the top prize of £10,000 in cash. Additional prizes on offer include £2,900 – which is enough to pay an average household’s energy bills for a year – plus £2,500 garden vouchers and a wide selection of Greene King gift cards.
To enter, customers simply need to text PUB 2022 to 84902*, entries cost one standard network rate message and include a voluntary £3 donation. All proceeds will go to Macmillan and help the charity continue to do whatever it takes to provide vital care and support for people living with cancer.
Nick Mackenzie, chief executive officer at Greene King, said: “Our partnership with Macmillan is one of the most long-standing and important pieces of charitable activity in the business. Thanks to the dedication of our pub teams and customers, we’ve managed to raise over £11 million in donations, helping to fund the vital work of Macmillan professionals, including the iconic Macmillan nurse.”
“Although we’ve done incredible work over the last 10 years, now is the time to supercharge our fundraising efforts across the business. We hope the “invisible” Mac(millan) and Cheese will help us continue to raise significant funds for such an important cause.”
Lynda Thomas CBE, chief executive at Macmillan Cancer Support, adds: “This is a milestone anniversary for us, and I cannot thank Greene King’s colleagues and customers enough for their energy, support and fundraising efforts over the past ten years. Through sheer determination, they have raised an incredible £11 million for us which has funded over 300,000 professional Macmillan nursing hours and so much more, allowing us to continue to do whatever it takes to help people living with cancer get the care they need.”
