Gucci is TikTok’s most counterfeited luxury brand, study reveals!

Whether it is fake designer purses or luxury watches, we have all seen counterfeit products sold at street markets and on the internet. The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) recently issued a study which estimated that global trade for counterfeit brands is around £500 billion a year, and is showing no signs of slowing down.

Interested in this, money.co.uk wanted to find out which luxury brand is the most counterfeited on TikTok. The team reviewed 40 of the most popular luxury brands using variations of each hashtag*, noting down the number of views. This allowed them to rank the luxury brand that is counterfeited the most on TikTok, from most to least.

Money.co.uk can reveal that the most counterfeited luxury brand on TikTok is Gucci. The world-renowned Italian luxury brand has a massive 13,605,100 total TikTok hashtag views to fake products, with Gucci belts and bags proving to be the most counterfeited products on the social platform.

Coming just behind in second is Rolex with 11,702,900 TikTok hashtag views. Rolex is one of the most sought-after luxury watch brands globally but unfortunately, with great demand also comes a world of counterfeit watches.

Louis Vuitton is in third place with 2,084,700 TikTok hashtag views. Louis Vuitton has been fighting against counterfeiters since 1872 and has since become one of the most counterfeited luxury brands, with bags and wallets proving the most popular to fake.

Coming in fourth with 282,700 TikTok hashtag views is Dior. The luxury brand has seen huge amounts of growth due to our favourite celebrities and athletes wearing the brand, which has undoubtedly increased the number of counterfeit Dior products.

Completing the top five with 163,181 TikTok hashtag views is Chanel. With its excellent quality and sophisticated designs, the French brand has cemented its status as one of the world’s biggest luxury brands, so it is no surprise the brand ranks fifth on the list.
