Have your say on the future of Sutton town centre
Sutton Council is calling on the local community to help shape the future of Sutton town centre and the St Nicholas Centre, which it bought last year.
The Council wants to know what you like and don’t like about the town centre, and what you would like to see in the future.
You can have your say by taking part in a survey, coming along to one of the Council’s pop-up events on the high street or joining a webinar.
Your responses to the survey will be used to make sure the proposals the Council puts forward are in line with what you would like from the future of the town centre.
Councillor Ruth Dombey, Leader of Sutton Council, said: “We want Sutton to have a vibrant and sustainable town centre with great shopping, culture, food, modern flexible working and good quality affordable housing – and we need you to help shape our plans to make this a reality.
“Exciting things are already happening on our high street, with brilliant local businesses making it their home and the Throwley Yard cultural hub and Oru Sutton co-working space set to open next year, but this is just the beginning. We have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to revitalise our town centre and create a high street that’s fit for the future. I hope you’ll take part.”
You can complete the survey online, with paper copies available to collect from libraries and the Sutton Civic Offices reception. It is open until Sunday 16 October.
The Council is holding pop-up events on Sutton High Street on:
Thursday 22 September, 5pm – 7pm, outside Sutton Train Station
Saturday 24 September, 10am – 12pm, inside the St Nicholas Centre
Saturday 1 October, 10am – 12pm, outside ASDA on Sutton High Street (weather dependent)
It is also holding a webinar where you can learn more about its vision for the town centre and share your views (registration is essential). This will take place via Zoom on Tuesday 4 October, 6:30pm – 7:30pm.
