A NEW audiology service for people who can’t leave their homes unaccompanied has launched in North West London.
The Specsavers home visits team is now offering a full range of hearing services for those who cannot get to a store on their own due to a physical or mental illness or disability.
Services on offer include hearing checks, hearing aid fittings, wax removal and comprehensive aftercare, all delivered directly to the communities they support.
Instead of travelling, customers can receive essential hearing care in their own homes, care homes or sheltered accommodation.
The service is headed by Nehal Tailor, who hails from Wembley. Nehal started to work for Specsavers when she was just 17 years old, with her first store being Specsavers Wembley, where she worked as an optical assistant gaining experience in customer services.
Nehal then progressed to store manager where she extended her skills and expertise in other stores, including Specsavers Edgware, Queensway and Golders Green.
Nehal says: ‘Over the course of my career at Specsavers I have been fortunate to have worked with a number of inspiring Specsavers North West London Home Visits Audiology individuals who have mentored and supported my development.
‘It was in 2022 while working at Specsavers Harrow in the audiology team that I was offered an apprenticeship opportunity to study at the Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge. Qualifying as a Registered Hearing Aid Dispenser (RHAD) marks a key turning point in my career, as I realised how much I could make a difference to people’s lives.
‘I chose to be a Domiciliary partner for Specsavers because I truly believe if customers can’t come to us, then why can’t we go to them? To be able to deliver this service in their safe space and leave them with life-changing devices, brings comfort to my heart.’
The new service will cover a wide catchment area stretching from Watford, Harrow, Stanmore, North Finchley, Kilburn, Edgeware Road and Fulham to Bishopsgate in the City and Tottenham Court Road in the West End.
