HIGH TEA AND JAZZ AT FORTNUM’S DIAMOND JUBILEE TEA SALON IS BACK AGAIN DUE TO POPULAR DEMAND

Following the instant sell-out success of the premiere July evening, the Diamond Jubilee Tea Salon: Fortnum & Mason’s iconic Afternoon Tea destination, and London Jazz institution, Ronnie Scott’s, are proud to present a new series of High Tea and Jazz events this August.

The series will commence on Thursday 5th August 2021 between 6-9pm and will run every Thursday for the rest of the month.

The new partnership recalls the long-held tradition of tea dances, the wildly popular occasions in the 1920s where Afternoon or High Tea was often accompanied by a live jazz band. While there may not be dancing just yet, it’s still a wonderful opportunity for guests to get dressed up, visit an iconic London destination, and enjoy a unique experience.

As restrictions are set to lift on July 19th, the Tea Salon is thrilled to offer group bookings of tables up to 12 guests. Get dressed up and get a group together to enjoy a Thursday evening of Ronnie Scott’s most highly renowned Jazz trios, each offering a completely unique experience for each evening in August.

Thursday 5th August – Joy Ellis Trio

A superb singer and songwriter, as well as being a skilled pianist and graduate of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Joy Ellis mixes well-crafted originals with Latin, jazz and blues-based material from the likes of Nina Simone and Stevie Wonder.

Thursday 12th August – Gabriel Latchin Trio

British pianist, composer and bandleader, Gabriel Latchin is one of the UK’s finest musicians, praised internationally by critics and world-renowned musicians alike. ‘Jazzwise’ magazine recently described his playing as “impeccable… the clarity of his lines evoking something of Hank Jones or Tommy Flanagan”.

Thursday 19th August – Jenny Carr Trio

Since arriving from Australia in the early 1990s, pianist Jenny Carr has carved a diverse career working with many well-known contemporary artists. As well as her impressive jazz repertoire and piano classics she also enjoys playing songs from the 60s, 70s and 80s through to contemporary hits.

Thursday 26th August – Joe Webb Trio

Joe Webb is a highly regarded pianist and a leading force on the UK jazz scene today. Along with his trio, Joe can be heard with the acclaimed Kansas Smitty’s House Band, Hailey Tuck, Rob Luft, Adrian Cox and Fraser & The Alibis.

On arrival, guests will be greeted with a glass of Fortnum’s Blanc de Blancs Champagne, before settling down to enjoy the carefully designed High Tea menu.

With a choice of luxurious dishes, including Lobster Omelette Victoria with Truffle, fresh Baked Cornish Brill with Champagne Sauce, Puff Pastry Case of Artichoke and Confit Peppers with Basil Pepper or traditional Southwest PGI Lamb Wellington, the menu can also be booked for the perfect pre-theatre and early afternoon dining experience any day of the week and weekends.

No Afternoon or High Tea experience at Fortnum’s would be complete without its famous Scones – and so following the savoury main course, Plain & Fruit Scones with Fortnum & Mason Strawberry Preserve, Lemon Curd & Clotted Cream will be served.

Finish with a selection of Fortnum’s delicious patisseries – inspired by seasonal ingredients, each one honed to perfection by the Tea Salon chefs.

Tickets are available now for £80 per person at Eventbrite.com for all August dates.
