HONEST BURGERS LAUNCHES SIZZLING CARIBBEAN FRIED CHICKEN SPECIAL

Notting Hill Carnival might still be two months away, but Honest Burgers is flying the red, gold, and green flag and pouring the rum ahead of time with its latest Grenada-inspired Caribbean Fried Chicken burger. This special for the month of June is a cultural collaboration with Pure Grenada, the official tourism board for the island.

This special came to fruition after Pure Grenada invited Honest Burgers to the Isle of Spice to take in the sun, sea, and delicious dishes of the island to gain inspiration for its summer special. Although one of the smaller islands in the Caribbean, Grenada is known for its high-quality spices such as nutmeg, cinnamon, and turmeric, and is a producer of high-calibre rums.

The Caribbean Fried Chicken Special is the trip of a lifetime packed into a crowd-pleasing buttermilk fried burger. The chicken is drizzled with BBQ sauce mixed with spicy yellow scotch bonnet pepper sauce, as well as an aromatic garlic and herb mayonnaise that is filled with a plethora of Grenadian herbs. The fried chicken sits on a bed of Honest Burgers’ “Spice Isle” coleslaw, made up of white cabbage and buttermilk spiced with Grenada’s famous blend of nutmeg, cinnamon, clove, and turmeric.

Adam Layton, Honest Burgers, Head of Food, said: “I had a great time eating, drinking, and dancing around Grenada. The locals are very friendly, and the foods are varied and delicious. So many treats to be had – if I had to recommend something it would be the crab backs at BB’s. I have a renewed faith in rum, which was an everyday ritual. We also picked up some of the local soca and jab jab carnival tunes so expect to hear them on rotation for the month across our restaurants.”

Petra Roach, CEO of The Grenada Tourism Authority added: “Food is a way of life here in Grenada, so it was a great pleasure to host Adam and see him and the team completely immerse themselves in the Spice Isle. Our island has an incredible abundance of natural produce, and spices, of course, so it’s fantastic to see how authentic flavours inspired Honest Burgers Caribbean Fried Chicken burger. The recipe is not just delicious, it’s also a beautiful reflection of our tri-island state.”

The Caribbean Fried Chicken Burger will be available at all 43 Honest Burgers’ restaurants from 6th June – 3rd July and is priced at £14.50, served with homemade rosemary salted chips for dine-ins and collection or £15.50 with a side when ordered via Uber Eats.

Grenada is known for its 40 white-sand beaches, including the world-famous Grand Anse beach, 15 breathtaking waterfalls, five chocolate factories, three rum distilleries, and over 30 unique dive sites, for more information visit puregrenada.com.
