Iconic Covent Garden pub, Punch & Judy, reopens following major investment

The famous London pub, Punch & Judy, has reopened following an exciting six-figure renovation.

The site closed in late January to undergo significant renovations to its interior and exterior and has reopened following the completion of major works.

Located within the busy central Covent Garden market, the iconic pub is named after the very first recorded Punch and Judy puppet show in England back in 1662, the pub has a rich history which was carefully considered throughout the renovation process and hinted at throughout the new design features.

The pub itself was established in 1787, and regulars and tourists alike will be pleased to see the traditional feel of the Punch & Judy is ever present in the new décor.

The interior has been tastefully rejuvenated, with contemporary design features revitalising the pub’s bar area, without taking away from its classic aesthetic. The new bar will also see the introduction of new beers, such as Greene King’s latest offering Hazy Day.

As the sun creeps out approaching spring, customers can enjoy the warmer weather and the unique British Covent Garden entertainment in an upgraded and comfortable outdoor area, with the pub’s new courtyard garden having a more spacious feel, plus an increase in both capacity and comfort on the beloved balcony, located on the first floor.

The exterior’s appearance is complete with a refreshing, new paint job to breathe new life into the space, which had previously remained untouched for over 20 years.

The whole family is invited as parents can bring their little ones along for a mid-shopping pit stop, with the pub’s ground floor welcoming children, while those who want to enjoy a relaxing time without the kids can enjoy the first floor space.

What’s more, kids can choose from a range of delicious meals from the children’s menu and adults can enjoy all the delights of an exciting new food menu that is set to launch on March 23rd.

Renowned for its one-of-a-kind inviting atmosphere, Punch & Judy regularly hosts parties in all shapes and sizes. It’s also dog-friendly both inside and outside, meaning that furry friends are welcome to have a sniff at the revamped space too!

Elton Paza, General Manager of Punch & Judy said: “We have been working hard behind the scenes to renovate Punch & Judy, and we’re excited to open our doors once again to customers both old and new.

“We have been very careful to ensure our history remains at the heart of the pub, and that the atmosphere and buzz of Punch & Judy is unchanged, while improving facilities, such as the bar, toilets and terrace that watches over Covent Garden.

“We can’t wait to show everyone the exciting new space, and we are looking forward to getting back into action with a busy opening weekend!”

Punch & Judy is reopening on 23rd February and is located at 40 The Mkt, London, WC2E 8RF.
