The first ever ‘World Gas Pumping Champion’ has been announced following the inaugural Championships held in London (31 August 2022).

Joe Chapman from Peterborough, England is the official winner of the BonusFinder World Gas Pumping Championships 2022, after competing in four action-packed rounds of petrol pumping, which tested speed, endurance, precision, and stamina.

Former F1 driver and TV presenter, Karun Chandhok, hosted the event, which was organized by BonusFinder. He presented the 31-year-old with the Championship title belt, a £500 prize – and a replenished tank of petrol, of course.

Chapman went head-to-head with four other competitors battling it out across each of the grueling rounds:
· Speed pumping – fastest to pump to £10 exactly (with no limit on the number of pumps – but every penny over receives a 5 second penalty)

· Pound by pound challenge – using one pump to hit £1 – £5 increments, stopping as close to each pound as possible
· Blindfold challenge – closest to pump to £5 whilst blindfolded
· Celebrating 2022 – closest to pump to £20.22 in just one pump

He scored a total of 15 points out of a potential 20, with his strongest round seeing him land on £20.24 in just one pump, only two pence off the desired £20.22.

On their victory, Joe Chapman said: “I’m ecstatic to have won the first ever World Gas Pumping Championships. When I first heard about the competition, I immediately thought, it’s time to put my pedal to the metal and win that jackpot. I’ve been working on refining my petrol pumping techniques for the past couple of weeks and I’ve also been going to the gym to increase my arm strength, so I’m glad it paid off.”

Charlotte Thompson from Southampton, England came second. In third place was 28-year-old Dom Court from Portsmouth, England, with both runners-up racing away with a full tank.
