Indonesia’s leading band Elephant Kind tour the UK next month!

After emerging in 2013, Elephant Kind quickly became one of Indonesia’s leading bands, regularly packing large venues in Jakarta, amassing millions of streams for their first two full-length albums, ‘City J’ and ‘The Greatest Ever’, and performing with international artists including The xx and Franz Ferdinand. But a new deal with MOLA Records presented an opportunity of a lifetime: the chance to relocate to London and to connect with a much broader international audience.

And so in the summer of 2022, the trio – frontman and founder Bam Mastro (vocals/guitar), Bayu Adisapoetra (drums) and Kevin Septanto (bass) – travelled over 7000 miles to start a new life in a city that they hadn’t even visited before. Step-by-step, the gamble is beginning to pay off, leading to the release of their EP ‘Superblue’, which was produced by Sam Petts-Davies (Thom Yorke, Puma Blue, Warpaint) and melds elements of indie, alt-pop and jazzy psychedelia, as well as initial gigs which have included Camden Rocks, The Alternative Escape and shows for Sofar Sounds.

Their journey is documented in full in the documentary ‘From Indo To England’, which also features live performances of the ‘Superblue’ tracks which were filmed at the storied RAK Studios. The band have since been featured by tastemakers such as NME, Clash and Dork.

Now Elephant Kind are set to embark upon their debut UK headline tour, which will see them bring their arena-sized experience to a selection of intimate venues. Tickets are available HERE.

Bam Mastro says, “We’re thrilled to announce our first UK tour. Join us in Birmingham, Bristol, Sheffield, Manchester, and London. We’ll be featuring new materials we’ve been working on, it’s gonna be up-tempo and groovy. See you on the dance floor!”

Expect much more new music to come in the near future from Elephant Kind as they look to replicate their homeland success in the UK. For now, however, catch them at the following shows:
