It’s a frightfully festive time of year at the London Dungeon, with its characters ready to spread their own brand of yuletide fear far and wide.

Peasants who brave the South Bank attraction this festive season will be greeted by a new ghastly character, as well as the ghosts of Christmas past and present.

The new character, The Monk, knows Christmas is a time for forgiveness and the confessing of sins, and may be taking this a little too seriously – hunting down guests, demanding confessions and sending them off on their own penance pilgrimage to repent into the London Dungeon to face the likes of Jack the Ripper and Sweeney Todd.

The unique festive thrills won’t stop there as all visitors who dare to enter the attraction should be prepared to scream and laugh their way around 19 shows and 2 thrilling rides, as they explore the depths of London’s dark histories this Christmas. So, be prepared for spine-tingling terrors as you witness strange goings-on that will make you jump out of your skin.

As a reward, visitors who can stomach the tour will be able to enjoy some festive food and drink in The Tavern, that is almost as iconic as Mrs Lovett’s pies. In the spirit of Christmas, the Queen of The London Dungeon has agreed, for a limited time only, to swap out her usual recipes and make mince pies (without the human parts) along with mulled wine for weary travellers to enjoy.

Speaking about Christmas, a spokesperson for the London Dungeon said: “We’ve all been getting into the festive spirit here at the London Dungeon and to celebrate Mrs Lovett has promised to be on her best behaviour as she cooks up a storm in The Tavern with mince pies and mulled wine that can be bought after the tour. Guests who visit us for the festive season will also get the chance to meet The Monk who is on a crusade to hear about festive frolics and sins before banishing you all into the London Dungeon to atone for your sins.”
