Inside “Dance For The Sea”: An underwater exhibition by London photographer Robin Conway
Extraordinary photographs captured by the photographer Robin Conway form an underwater exhibition which opens in Covent Garden, London from September 23.
Filmed and photographed in London by Conway, Dance for the Sea is a collaboration with the Royal Ballet soloist Fernando Montaño to highlight the disastrous pollution of the world’s oceans and waterways by plastic.
In the film and an exclusive series of 10 captivating photographs, Montaño is immersed under water as he moves and dances among recycled plastic art sculptures. The transparent beauty of the water and contrasting plastic sculptures represent conflicting scenes between nature and pollution across the planet.
Previews of Robin Conway’s photographs and clips from an accompanying short film were first showcased on billboards across the country this summer in association with the outdoor media owner Ocean Outdoor.
The pictures form part of Conway’s latest underwater exhibition which opens at the Oasis Sports Centre in Covent Garden, 32 Endell St, London WC2H 9AG from September 23. The pictures will be immersed using diving weights in the outdoor pool with further photographs on display in the centre itself.
Robin Conway continues his focus on the pollution of the seas and oceans by plastic this autumn with 13 Million, a new artistic collaboration featuring the actor, dancer and influencer Simona Martini, Italian ballerina Monika Lepisto and the identical twin brother ballet dancers Joshua McSherry-Gray (English National Ballet) and Laurie McSherry-Gray.
A qualified scuba diver and swimming teacher, Robin Conway’s portfolio includes fashion, dance and artistic portraiture.
