Introducing Mayfair’s New Gem – The Chesterfield Arms

Nestled in the heart of Shepherd Market in Mayfair, The Chesterfield Arms is a new Mayfair gem located between Green Park and Hyde Park.

Steeped in history, the building has been a pub since 1737. It was originally known as The Chesterfield Arms until 1938 when it was renamed the Shepherd’s Tavern. Now under ownership of the Metropolitan Pub Company, the pub has returned to its roots and reinstated its former name, The Chesterfield Arms.

Following its tasteful refurbishment, The Chesterfield Arms is a beautifully detailed tavern with a new lease of life. The renewed interior combines the best of British cuisine and hospitality with a curated selection of draughts and wines that are full of personality.

The bar area refurbishment has brought the pub’s original character back to life. The brand-new parquet flooring really lifts the atmosphere and the original mouldings have been stripped of paint to revive the classic feel of The Chesterfield Arms.

Heading upstairs, the addition of warm lighting creates an inviting atmosphere and ensures the pub space can be enjoyed all year round. With rich mahogany tones and luxurious wooden features, the setting now oozes a modern twist on a classic pub style.

What’s more, the dining room has been stylishly renovated with spice and bottle green leathers, a new plank timber floor and brand-new light fittings to enhance the atmosphere. Retaining the dining area’s charm, existing oak panelling has undergone a refresh and the revived space is further complimented with the addition of a new service bar and a tall wine fridge to provide an array of bottles for guests to enjoy.

The Head Chef and team will be bringing fresh seasonal dishes and pub classics to the menu that perfectly pair with a brand-new curated wine list for guests to enjoy.

Outside, the attractive two storey building has also undergone a refresh with new signage and colour. Injecting the exterior with an inviting red, The Chesterfield Arms now exudes character and charm for its local community.

Following the elegant renovation, The Chesterfield Arms now offers a sleek take on the traditional British Pub for guests looking for a quiet after-work refreshment or for those looking to dine on delicious British classics that will impress all appetites.

Rudi Bouwer, General Manager at The Chesterfield Arms said: “The team have been working hard to give The Chesterfield Arms a new lease of life.

“Our guests and local community are at heart of everything we do, and we’re excited to welcome guests back to the pub that’s looking more charming and inviting than ever before.

“With our menu offering delicious British classics, we’re sure to offer those looking for an after-work drink or quiet evening meal the perfect setting.”

Michael Horan, Managing Director of the Metropolitan Pub Company, added: “One of our first major projects following the easing of Covid-19 restrictions, a significant six-figure investment has resulted in the stunning refurbishment of The Chesterfield Arms.

“It’s great to be able to invest in The Chesterfield Arms as a pub that’s situated in the heart of the Mayfair community. We think the results are charming and we’re pleased to welcoming guests back through the doors.”
