JENKI is bringing London’s cult matcha ritual into the kitchen with debut recipe book

JENKI, the cult London matcha brand at the forefront of the UK’s burgeoning matcha scene, will publish its debut recipe book Matcha at Home on 30th April 2026. The book brings JENKI’s approach to expertly prepared, freshly whisked matcha out of its bars and into the kitchen for the first time.

Published by Quadrille, Matcha at Home is written by JENKI co-founder Claudia Boyer and distills what has made the brand so popular into a practical, flavourful guide to drinking, cooking and baking with matcha at home. The book reflects JENKI’s expansion beyond its London bars, with a growing online business that allows customers across the UK to buy its matcha and make it at home.
Rather than positioning matcha as a wellness fad or specialist ingredient, Matcha at Home covers everything from water temperature and whisking method to understanding quality, colour and flavour, and demystifying an ingredient that is often misunderstood. Alongside core drinks, it shows how matcha can be used creatively in everyday cooking, from baking to energy-rich snacks, without losing its character or balance.

Recipe highlights include:
Iced Vanilla Sea Salt Matcha Latte
Fluffy Matcha Pancakes
The Ultimate Matcha Cookie
Marbled Matcha Tahini Banana Bread
Classic Matcha Tiramisu
Power Balls
Layered Chia Protein Pudding
Founded in 2020, JENKI has become a driving force behind London’s matcha movement, redefining the daily caffeine ritual through calm, considered preparation and high quality, ceremonial grade Japanese matcha. With six design-led bars across Selfridges, Spitalfields, Covent Garden, Borough Market, Canary Wharf and Battersea Power Station, the brand has built a loyal following drawn to its aesthetic, sourcing ethos and focus on sustained energy.

As more people look for alternatives to coffee, matcha has steadily moved from niche to mainstream. Unlike coffee, matcha contains naturally occurring L-theanine alongside caffeine, which slows the release of energy in the body and supports focus without the sharp spike and crash often associated with coffee. This balance sits at the heart of JENKI’s philosophy, often referred to as ‘clean, green caffeine’.

JENKI works closely with select farms across Japan, including long standing partners in Uji, Kyoto. Each harvest is shade grown, carefully picked and stone ground, resulting in a smooth, vibrant powder chosen for balance, colour and whiskability.

Every drink served in JENKI bars is made to order, with preparation at the bar central to the experience. This commitment to process and flavour has earned the brand Double Gold at the Great Taste Awards in 2023 and, most recently, Matcha Brand of the Year 2025 at the European Coffee and Hospitality Awards. The 2025 win marked the first time the category has been awarded, cementing JENKI’s position as a leader in the growing European matcha market.

More than a recipe book, Matcha at Home reflects a wider cultural shift towards more mindful energy, slower rituals and better ingredients, led by a brand that has helped bring ceremonial grade matcha into the UK mainstream, both in its London bars and at home.
