More jewellery was robbed in London than anywhere else in the country – robberies of jewellery in London between 2018 and 2020 are valued at £373 million.

The top two London boroughs for jewellery theft in 2020 were Westminster, with just over 1,500 thefts in and Kensington and Chelsea with 967 – both home to many of London’s ultra-rich.

Of 32 boroughs in London, jewellery worth over £123 million was robbed in 2018 and £162 million in 2019, however the figure dropped in 2020 to £87.5 million.

Slightly under £400 million worth of jewellery was stolen in the UK between 2018 and 2020!

The coronavirus has led to a decline in the number of jewellery thefts in every location that this study received data for. However, it appears that jewellery crime may have been decreasing since before the pandemic, with numbers dropping in over 80% of the areas between 2018 and 2019.
