Kanishka by Atul Kochhar is hosting a special Taste of Goa dinner

Kanishka by Atul Kochhar, the acclaimed fine dining Indian restaurant in the heart of Mayfair, presents a culinary exploration of India’s lesser explored Northeastern regions and the historic spice routes that shaped the subcontinent’s diverse food culture.

Kanishka is helmed by twice Michelin starred chef Atul Kochhar alongside Executive Chef Ashok Kumar, and showcases bold regional flavours, seasonal British ingredients and a modern approach to Indian cuisine.

Named after Emperor Kanishka, whose ancient empire extended across Central Asia and Northern India, Kanishka reflects this cross-cultural heritage across both its cuisine and design. The menu highlights the distinct flavours of India’s Northeast including Assam, Nagaland and Sikkim, alongside signature dishes that express Kochhar’s individual cooking style.

Atul Kochhar is recognised as one of the pioneers of modern Indian cuisine in the UK. In 2001, he became the first Indian chef to receive a Michelin star, helping to shift perceptions of Indian cooking through an elevated and modern lens. Over the course of his career, he has led some of London’s most respected kitchens and continues to champion regional Indian food with a focus on seasonality and provenance.

At Kanishka, the menus evolve with the seasons and are available both à la carte and as a curated tasting menu. The à la carte selection spans delicately spiced seafood, tandoor grills and slow cooked regional curries, with highlights including seared Orkney scallops with coconut and curry leaf, tandoori monkfish, smoked venison samosa, the signature chicken tikka pie and lamb Rogan Josh, each reflecting Atul Kochhar’s balance of British produce and layered Indian spice.

The Tasting Menu presents a defined progression of dishes that showcase the restaurant’s regional influences and the experience begins with snacks such as Lamb Truffle Shorba, Kulth Lentil Cornetto and Partridge Kachori, before moving to Jalpari Nilgiri featuring hand dived Orkney scallops with mountain herbs, curry leaf and caviar. Malai Mach pairs Cornish halibut with sea vegetables and malai curry, while Murgh Makhani presents Norfolk chicken malai tikka with fenugreek and tomato. The menu concludes with Lamb Wellington, Romney Marsh lamb canon wrapped with mushroom and served with rogan jus, bringing together British sourcing and Indian flavour in a single signature dish.

Kanishka’s interiors mirror the restaurant’s ethos, combining rich textures and warm tones with subtle references to the Silk Route. A dedicated bar offers cocktails inspired by Indian botanicals and spices, supported by a wine list designed to complement the menu’s bold flavours. Located on Maddox Street in Mayfair, Kanishka offers both main dining and private dining spaces suitable for events, celebrations and business gatherings.

Kanishka by Atul Kochhar continues to celebrate the diversity and complexity of Indian cuisine, presenting a considered and regionally focused perspective in one of London’s most established dining areas.
