Kapten – the ride-hailing app launches their new charity initiative
Kapten, the major European ride-hailing app, has launched its ‘Ride4Good’ initiative that allows users to round up their fares to the next higher £0.50 and donate the difference to Epic charity.
Kapten is reaffirming its position as a responsible platform in the ride-hailing sector by launching its Ride4Good industry-first initiative that will be available to consumers across the UK, France, and Portugal.
Starting today, Kapten users will be able to activate the feature in their app and round up their fares to the nearest £0.50 to benefit the non-for-profit organisation, Epic, that is fighting to change the lives of disadvantaged youths worldwide.
100% of the funds collected will go directly to help the young adults and children supported by the Epic organisation. Working with a portfolio of rigorously vetted social organisations, Epic uses social innovation to address injustices affecting children and youths. They currently support 28 organisations spanning 11 countries across the USA, Western Europe, East Africa, India and South-East Asia.
As part of the initiative, Kapten will match the funds raised over the next two months, doubling the total donation to Epic. In the future Kapten hope to extend this feature to more non-for-profit organisations, allowing their consumers to choose the charity they wish to donate to.
Sébastien Oebel, CEO of Kapten, stated: “I am extremely proud of the Kapten team. Thanks to their skills and generosity, we were able to launch in record time the first ’round up and donate’ feature in the European ride-hailing sector. Kapten is once again leading the way, proving that a ride-hailing operator can be both commercially successful and innovative in terms of social responsibility.”
