KENT HOUSEBUILDER BOLSTERS S106 COMMITMENTS BY OPENING NEW PLAY PARK

Last week, local housebuilder Barratt Homes welcomed children from local Palmarsh Primary School to celebrate the opening of the brand new playground at its Martello Lakes development in Hythe, and test out the play equipment for the first time.

The playground forms the latest development in the housebuilder’s Section 106 agreement at Martello Lakes, which ensures the delivery of a number of commitments between the Barratt Homes and the local authority.

On the day, representatives from Barratt Kent met with pupils from Palmarsh Primary School to officially mark the unveiling of the first park at the development. The park, located on Dymchurch Road, is furnished with a range of play equipment including a slide, swings and a zip wire, and overlooks a biodiverse fishing and sailing lake. The children and teachers from Palmarsh Primary School, which is located just a fifteen-minute walk from the development, were then tasked testing out the all-new amenities in the park. The event also presented an opportunity for the school to see the progress made at the development, whilst discussing its future plans.

Natalie Perry, Sales and Marketing Director for Barratt Kent, comments: “We are honoured to formally open the new Martello Lakes play park and it was made extra special by the children from Palmarsh Primary School attending. At Barratt Kent, we are committed to ensuring our residents have access to open spaces for them to enjoy and build meaningful community relationships here. The day was a great success, with opportunities to directly discuss the development with the school and highlight our future S106 commitments. I would like to personally thank all those who attended and we hope it was a nice treat for the pupils ahead of half term!”

Mr Jamie Leach, Headteacher of Palmarsh Primary School, adds: “We are so thankful for Barratt Kent for inviting us to share such a special occasion with them and allowing our pupils to be a part of the site’s history. All the children had such a wonderful day at the new park and certainly tried and tested all the equipment! A number of our pupils live on the Martello Lakes development, so it is fantastic to know they will be able to benefit from the park after a day at school too.”

Currently available at Martello Lakes are a range of one and two-bedroom apartments. Prices start from £186,995 for a Loughton one-bedroom apartment.
