KidZania London launches search for new child mayor

KidZania London is on the hunt for a new Mini-Mayor! The realistic city – made for kids and run by kids – located in Westfield Shepherd’s Bush, is looking for candidates who love role play, inspiring others and want to help make KidZania – and the wider world – a better place.

Being Mayor of KidZania London is an important job. Previous KidZania Mayors have helped the mini city open new activities and attractions, lead city parades, write blogs, record videos and raise money for charity.

Past Mayors have included Kishan Shah from Chigwell (pictured above) and Livia Stone from Rotherhithe (pictured below) who managed to fit their duties around their school commitments and had some fantastic ideas for KidZania including creating a special area for grown-ups and a kid-run restaurant where you can make ready-made meals for the hungry children at lunchtime.

As part of the Mayor application process, KidZania London is asking candidates to suggest three things they would do to change KidZania’s mini city for the better.

Previous KidZania mini-Mayors have had many of their ideas put into action around the London attraction. These include new experiences to rebuild confidence in children post-pandemic, giving parents the chance to join in certain role play activities (now a permanent feature during Family Sundays), a dedicated grown-ups area and also, food role-play options inside KidZania’s burger restaurant and Mission Wraps establishment.

KidZania’s COO Patricia Rayneau adds: “We’re constantly looking at how to make our mini city a better place for all kids, so we encourage all children to apply. We are always so amazed at how creative and thoughtful the ideas are from our applicants and can’t wait to read the children’s submissions. Our previous Mayors have always found the experience to be empowering, and that’s the feeling we hope we can bring to our 2024 Mayor – along with lots of fun with year-long access to all our city offers!”

Children who are interested in applying must be between 4 and 14 years. Applicants will need to send in three things they would do to make KidZania London a better place. In return, the chosen Mayor will get a FREE annual pass for unlimited visits for the year, a FREE birthday party, a B-KidZanian Membership, a key to the city, mayoral robes and the chance to be included in many additional extras such as leading parades, opening new activities and contributing to our blogs and newsletters.
