King’s Cross unveils first-of-its-kind light and sound exhibition which explores the profound connection between nature and humanity
King’s Cross will soon unveil its latest free, interactive exhibition, Nature | Connected by the award-winning sound and light artist, Natural Symphony.
A first-of-its-kind, Nature | Connected launches on 6 June in Granary Square and runs until 29 June. The exhibition explores the profound connection between nature and humanity and invites visitors to step inside an immersive installation and engage with plants at its heart.
Designed to rekindle our bond with the natural world, this exhibition offers a unique sensory experience which immerses visitors in nature’s healing power, inspiring us to take action to protect our environment. Guided by handmade biofeedback devices and creative coding, the installation is entirely controlled by living plants and responds to human interaction with stunning real-time visual and audio effects, creating a mesmerising symphony of sights and sounds.
Acting as a conduit between the natural world and the digital realm, the plants’ beautiful leaves are intertwined with sensors, as if reclaimed by technology, channelling the pulse of nature into the electronic ether.
Beneath its canopy, screens flicker with vivid video of 360-degree worlds, showcasing bio-diversity rich habitats – leaves trembling in the breeze, rain tapping against the earth, clouds drifting. Each scene is controlled by the plants’ unseen forces and merges the organic with the digital in a dance of harmony and disruption.
Nature | Connected is the first installation in the five-part Human | Nature series by Natural Symphony.
Natural Symphony is the stage name for London artist, Joey Dean, who uses handmade instruments to detect the bio-rhythms in plants and trees, transforming them into live electronic music and immersive, interactive art.
Nature | Connected forms part of the Super Nature campaign at King’s Cross, a three-month initiative aimed at nurturing people and the planet. It will run until 29 June, coinciding with Earthfest, a four-day sustainability festival in King’s Cross (5-8 June), and London Climate Action Week (21-29 June).
Joey Dean aka Natural Symphony said: “I am excited to unveil Nature | Connected for the first time at King’s Cross. It is the first installation in my Human | Nature series and it highlights the often-overlooked connection between humans and nature. Even in an age dominated by machines, nature’s pulse can still shape our world. By immersing yourself in this experience, you will not only witness the harmony between nature and humanity but also feel a profound connection to the environment. I hope this experience inspires visitors to appreciate the beauty of nature and find a way to reconnect to it.”
Chrissy Cullen, Place Marketing Director at King’s Cross, said: “We are excited to bring Nature | Connected to King’s Cross as part of our Super Nature campaign. In a time when digital technology frequently distances us from reality, this groundbreaking exhibition provides a unique opportunity to reconnect with nature and experience its incredible healing power. I encourage everyone to come and enjoy this extraordinary blend of digital art and nature and take a moment to reflect on how we can all protect our planet.”
