La Maritxu Announces Fourth Site in Coal Drops Yard

This May, La Maritxu – London’s much-loved Basque cheesecake brand – will open its fourth site in Coal Drops Yard, King’s Cross. Founded in 2021 by husband-and-wife duo Ignacio and Lucia, La Maritxu has quickly built a loyal following for its signature cheesecakes, and now brings its authentic offering to one of London’s most vibrant destinations.

At the new Coal Drops Yard location, La Maritxu will serve its renowned Basque-style cheesecake, with its signature burnt caramelised top. Baked at a high temperature to achieve its distinctive dark exterior and rich, creamy centre, the cheesecake is made in the traditional style, as is done in Bilbao. Alongside the classic, customers can also expect a rotating selection of limited-edition flavours, as well as cheesecakes available by the slice and in four sizes including mini, medium, 8-inch, and 10-inch whole cakes.

To complement the cheesecakes, La Maritxu will offer a curated drinks menu featuring coffees, teas, chai, matcha, and soft drinks, ideal for pairing with the indulgent bakes.

Coal Drops Yard provides the perfect next step for La Maritxu’s expansion. Known as a hub for food, drink, and shopping, the King’s Cross destination attracts both Londoners and visitors alike, making it an exciting new home for the growing brand.

The new site will be able to seat a total of 14 people inside and outside, offering an inviting space to relax and enjoy La Maritxu’s signature cheesecakes. Whether stopping by for a quick treat or lingering over coffee, it will serve as an ideal spot for a treat.

During the warmer months, customers can take advantage of Coal Drop’s Yard’s open-air setting, grabbing a slice of cheesecake and a coffee to enjoy in one of North London’s most vibrant hubs.

With sites in Kingly Court, Connaught Village, Greenwich, and soon Coal Drops Yard, La Maritxu is fast becoming one of London’s standout bakery brands.
