Landlord who kicked Keir Starmer out of his pub “delighted” prime minister has resigned

Rod Humphris, the landlord of The Raven pub in Bath, who famously kicked Keir Starmer out of his pub, has said it is “a good day” as Keir Starmer has resigned.
Speaking to GB News, he said: “I am delighted that man is no longer representing us, and he’s no longer leading the country, if that’s what you can call it.

“I hope it’s a good sign of change. I feel like since Covid, I’ve been sort of waiting for us to remember who we are and stop doing a world of stupid things, and that man has been iconic of so much of what’s been nasty about the last few years, maybe longer.

“Who locked us up? Who prevented old people coming to my pub when maybe they were dying anyway?

“Frightened people who, in many ways, colluded in taking away years from our children developing, frightening young people, and was part of making us all a great deal poorer.

“Poorer financially, poorer in spirit, poor in culture. I hate so much of all of that, and I think we’re still in a very great deal of trouble, but it’s a good day that he is gone. I’m glad he’s gone.

“If I were to guess, I would say [Andy Burnham] will call in an election soon, and if I were to guess, I would say he would win it. Because I think there’s a lot of people in this country who still have very little idea what’s going on.

“We all tend to live in bubbles. I come from a kind of middle-class, socialist family, in a way, and I live in an affluent bit of the country.

“A lot of people around me have no idea what it’s like in our inner cities, and have no idea what financial trouble this country is in, and feel that the answer lies to the left.
“I think Andy Burnham is going to take us to the left, and I strongly suspect it’s going to be grim. That’s my feeling.

“At the same time, I know with the movement on the right, Reform, Restore and I want to give him credit, if you don’t mind, Tommy Robinson, the feeling of British people feeling some sense of pride, some sense of who we are, that is growing.

“That will hopefully, in the end, get us out of some trouble; that we will remember who we are, stand up for ourselves, and stop doing stupid things.”
