LANGLEY FOUNDATION RECIEVES A WELCOME BOOST FROM CALA HOMES

Beckenham based charity, Langley Foundation, has received a helping hand from CALA Homes (South Home Counties), being awarded £1,000 as part of the homebuilder’s Community Bursary initiative.

Langley Foundation is a grant-giving body, founded to help those in the local community of Beckenham. Its mission is to provide relief to those suffering from financial hardship, as a result of long-term illness or disability. The organisation also helps with signposting families to relevant support services, as well as providing funds for short breaks or trips.

CALA Homes (South Home Counties), which is building Langley Court in Beckenham, invited entries for their Community Bursary scheme earlier this year, providing organisations, charities, and community groups in the area with the opportunity to apply for a share of £10,000 to help fund local projects and initiatives. Langley Foundation was chosen as one of the recipients, with the funding going towards helping families on a case-by-case basis.

Across the UK, CALA’s Community Bursary initiative will award over £100,000 this year to good causes, bringing the total donated to more than £400,000 since the initiative was launched in 2016.

Cherie Langley, Chair of Trustees at Langley Foundation, said: “We’re extremely grateful for the support of CALA Homes (South Home Counties), as with their help, we’ve managed to positively impact the lives of people who are experiencing hardship in the local area.

“In a six-week period, we’ve helped three families, providing them with funding to help improve their situations. Including providing a hospital bed for a young girl who underwent serious lung surgery and was unable to retrieve a bed from the hospital, and helping a gentleman who was unable to pay rent due to being in and out of hospital, by making payments through his housing support officer.

“Lastly, we were able to help a dad suffering with rheumatoid arthritis and widespread chronic pain by purchasing a brand-new sofa so he was able to spend time with his children in his living room more comfortably.”

Richard Walbourn, Managing Director at CALA Homes South Counties, said “We are delighted to be supporting the work of Langley Foundation, which has a hugely beneficial impact on the wider Beckenham community. We are thrilled to hear how our donation has helped three families already, and hope it will continue to help more. At CALA, we are committed to making a lasting contribution to the communities in which we build, and the Community Bursary is a way of supporting those projects that matter most to local people.”
