Leading model event in the heart of London finds the UK’s next stars on top of raising money for charity

The leading model search in the UK took place this weekend at the luxurious Royal Horseguards Hotel in central London after it was delayed in 2020.

Top Model is the fashion event with a proven track record of discovering new model talent, launching their careers and seeing them achieve their dreams.

This year, 19-year-old Melissa Warren from Liverpool won 1st Runner Up at the international Top Model Worldwide search representing England, as well as winning the Top Model UK Editorial title in a day of fabulous runway shows and awards.

Other winners include India Coyle in the Commercial category, Connor Johnston for Men, Omotayo Robin for Over 25s (26-35), Alma Almario for Over 25s (36+) and Maria Vetstomova in the Worldwide category.

The event, originally Miss Top Model UK, was founded in 2007 and started life as a small model search with just 16 finalists but quickly outgrew its original venue and moved to the much larger Hilton London Metropole in 2010, which was to become its home for 10 successful years.

After delaying for a year as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, the show saw finalists compete to win over 40 awards, including the Charity Public Vote, where every penny generated from the voting goes direct to The Top Model Foundation charity for sick children and children in need.

The charity was established as a fashion, beauty and creative industry initiative in 2019, founded by a small group of individuals from a variety of industry professions.

Top Model has raised over £250,000 for various charities since it began in 2008.

Many of the finalists and winners from the show will go on to sign with agencies, work as professional models, be published and travel internationally and some may even walk at London Fashion Week.

As well as setting themselves up for the future, many of the finalists who competed in Top Model 2020 got the chance to see what it’s like to work at the top of the industry.

From professional coaching, being dressed by leading designers and given a professional hair and make-up look at the finals, all came to the finalists as they matched the décor of the Royal Horseguards Hotel.

Top Model 2021 will take place on Saturday 18th September in London with five categories: Editorial, Commercial, Over 25s and Men and the international Worldwide.

They currently have international qualifying events in South Africa, Australia, India, Estonia, Bahamas, Nepal, Zimbabwe and Uganda.
