Leading West End Actor Danny Becker Announces the Launch of New Performing Arts School to Connect Young Performers with Current Industry Stars
Acclaimed West End leading actor Danny Becker has announced the launch of Act 1 Performing Arts, a new drama school in Bushey designed to give young performers unique access to professional training and mentorship from actors currently starring in high-profile roles across theatre and TV. From next month, children across London and Hertfordshire will be able to take part in Act 1’s introductory workshops. The first workshop, taking place on 7th September, will be offered free of charge — a reflection of the school’s mission to give back to the community that inspired its creation.
Danny’s story is as inspiring as it is successful. Growing up with dyslexia, he often struggled in school and lacked confidence. Traditional classrooms left him feeling isolated, but drama gave him a lifeline. At just 13, he discovered amateur dramatics and from there, his love for theatre grew into a calling. After successfully auditioning for the Brit School, he went on to train at ArtsEd London, one of the UK’s top musical theatre schools.
Danny has since starred in major West End productions including Aladdin, The Prince of Egypt, HMS Pinafore, Frozen and is currently a lead in the critically acclaimed Operation Mincemeat. He has toured internationally, worked alongside Disney stars, and appeared on the Grammy-nominated cast album of The Prince of Egypt, composed by Stephen Schwartz (Wicked).
Now, Danny is launching Act 1 Performing Arts to give back to the next generation of aspiring actors. The school, based in North London, is founded on the principle of quality over quantity, offering small, supportive classes where students receive personal guidance and encouragement. What makes Act 1 unique is its faculty: Students will have access to current and high-profile West End and television stars, bringing not only drama training but also real-world knowledge of the industry, audition techniques, and the realities of working in show business today.
Founder and West End Actor, Danny Becker, commented, “Drama changed my life. As a kid with dyslexia, I often felt like I didn’t fit in. But when I found drama, I found my people. It gave me confidence, purpose, and a career I never dreamed was possible. Act 1 is about creating that same safe, inspiring environment for young people today, but with the added advantage of access to actors who are currently living and breathing this profession. We’re not just teaching drama; we’re opening doors for talented children.”
Programs at Act 1 include workshops, summer schools, and ongoing training designed to nurture talented young people who have the potential to thrive but may lack confidence or support. Danny is passionate about providing opportunities for kids like him, those who need encouragement and access to role models who can show them what’s possible.
Act 1 Performing Arts’ first workshops this September in Bushey will be completely free, but places are limited, so early booking is recommended.
