Livat Hammersmith celebrates the success ofcommunity employment campaigns
Livat Hammersmith is proud to announce the remarkable success of its recent employment initiatives, demonstrating its unwavering commitment in supporting the local community to find meaningful employment. In collaboration with key partners, including Shaw Trust and H&F Works, as well as various local employers, the Livat Employment Fair held in May and free Employment Skills Clinics held in July proved to be significant milestones in engaging and securing job placements within the local community.
Hosted at the heart of Livat Hammersmith, the Employment Fair attracted hundreds of jobseekers, resulting in over 450 meaningful interactions between candidates and various employers and organisations. The event was designed to provide residents and locals with direct access to a wide range of career opportunities and skill development resources, as well as professional guidance.
One of the standout successes from the Employment Fair was Mohammed, who secured a job on the spot that very day. One equally happy resident announced: “The support and opportunities provided at the Livat Employment Fair have given me the direction I needed to move forward in my career.”
On the day, key partner H&F Works reported over 100 meaningful interactions, with 17 members of the community being invited to interviews on the spot and a further 25 being assigned an employment advisor to provide essential support and training. Over 100 people took details of specific relevant courses for H&F Adult Learning Services – the most successful and engaged job fair the organisation had ever taken part in.
David Steeds, Group Partnerships Manager at the Department for Work and Pensions, said: “There was a brilliant variety of employers attending, offering a wide range of career opportunities. The location, in the heart of the shopping centre, opens up these opportunities to the whole of the local community – and local jobs for local people, is at the centre of what we as a department and employers strive for. The attendance was incredible, with a real buzz in the air and the feedback from attendees was very positive, making access to recruiters and therefore jobs, easier and less stressful. l look forward to visiting and supporting more events like this in the future.”
July saw The Shaw Trust return to Livat Hammersmith for a series of Employment Skills Workshops at Livat Hammersmith. Shaw Trust conducted 22 one-on-one sessions, providing personalised guidance that directly addressed the unique needs of each participant. The inaugural Employment Coaching Programme led by coaching expert Aliyah Ali also exceeded expectations, with the programme receiving a high number of applicants. This response underscores the effectiveness of these initiatives in empowering local residents to enhance their skills and pursue meaningful employment opportunities.
Building on the success of the Employment Fair and Employment Skills Clinic, Livat Hammersmith is committed to continuing its efforts in fostering local employment. Plans are already underway for future events, including monthly skills workshops in partnership with Shaw Trust, which will run until the end of November. Additionally, the ongoing Employment Coaching Programme led by Aliyah Ali has been met with immense interest.
