LOCAL BUSINESS AWARDED HIGHLY COMMENDED AT SOUTHWARK BUSINESS RESILIENCE AWARDS
Peckham based business, Scissors of Oz, has received the highly commended award for the Southwark Business Resilience Awards 2021 Sustainable Green Investment category.
The awards, organised by White Label on behalf of Southwark Chamber of Commerce and Southwark Council, celebrate the successes, achievements and resilience of the borough’s large and vibrant business community and was designed to appeal to every type and size of enterprise from start-ups to SME’s and large corporates.
Scissors of Oz were nominated for the awards by clients and the community and received the incredible news that they were nominated for five categories: the COVID-19 Business Resilience Award, Business Pivot Award, Sustainable Green Investment Award, Local Lockdown Hero and Community Collaboration in Response to COVID-19 Award. Scissors of Oz then chose two categories to be a finalist for, the COVID-19 Business Resilience Award and the Sustainable Green Investment Award, before voting went live to the public. A total of 52 businesses were named as finalist across nine categories, the programme’s entries are an incredible showcase of how Southwark businesses have overcome the challenges and embraced the opportunities presented by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Members of the public and business community were then asked to vote in each category for their selected business before winners were announced at the Southwark Business Resilience Awards Virtual Awards Ceremony.
Owner of Scissors of Oz, Oz Izzet, was delighted to receive the highly commended award for the Sustainable Green Investment Award category and commented, “I was thrilled to be a part of the Southwark Business Awards 2021 and placed beside so many amazing establishments. We were not expecting to be highly commended in the Green Investment Award, as we were up against some sensational initiatives! We were honoured to be recognised as a sustainable salon and hub and congratulate Plastic Free Peckham in the win, they really do deserve it.”
