London amongst cities with highest prescription drug misuse
London amongst the top cities searching for illegal prescription drugs online during the coronavirus pandemic, according to new research.
The pandemic has caused a massive spike in individuals within the UK purchasing illegal prescription drugs online, including sleeping and anxiety pills, evidence suggests. March 2021 saw a 91% rise in searches for prescription drugs online in the UK alone.
But where in the UK is searching the most online for popular illegal prescription drugs? We’ve asked the research team from Delamere Health Cheshire to uncover the truth.
According to the findings, London had one the highest search volumes for prescription drugs in the UK. The city scored 285 on the index ranking out of the possible 500, for its volume levels across popular prescription drugs.
Residents in the capital have been searching for Fentanyl, Codeine, Sertraline, Oxycodone and Morphine during the coronavirus pandemic.
Liverpool topped the list, with a score of 409 out of the possible score of 500, for search volume levels across popular prescription drugs.
