LONDON DUO LOST CHIMES REDEFINE FOLK/ROOTS WITH A FRESH, EMOTIVE SOUND

London-based duo Lost Chimes are emerging with a quietly powerful presence on the UK folk/roots scene. Blending Celtic influences with modern textures, their sound is intimate, atmospheric, and undeniably fresh.
Their debut album Now I Swim lands in June 2025, with a series of carefully crafted singles already drawing early attention. At the heart of Lost Chimes are Gemma and Nicky Kirk, a real-life couple whose musical synergy reflects a deep creative partnership. Nicky’s layered acoustic arrangements and Gemma’s haunting vocals create songs that are both rooted and unafraid to reach into new territory. Produced by Gerry Diver (Van Morrison, Graham Coxon, Knapp & Diver, Billy Bragg).

“We’re inspired by landscapes, memory, and the quiet shifts that happen within,” says Gemma. “This album is about navigating change, holding onto hope, and the currents that carry us forward.”

From stripped-back ballads to cinematic builds, Now I Swim carries echoes of Celtic folk, indie acoustic, and alt-folk sensibilities—but always with their own stamp.

Now I Swim is Sheila’s story. She lost her dad in the sea in Galway and now swims in the sea to feel close to him.

The duo are performing live, two songs from the album on Radio 4s Loose Ends on 4th July.
