London father scoops £70,000 prize from 90p ticket
A father-of-three from East London was left holding back the tears after he scooped a £70,000 cash-and-car prize thanks to online competition company BOTB.
Lucky Mohammed Idrisnur was still in his pyjamas when BOTB’s Christian Williams turned up at his front door to let him know he’d won a brand-new Honda e Advance in the firm’s weekly Dream Car Competition – botb.com/winners/dc3121.
“I knew who Christian was as soon as I saw him,” Mohammed laughed. “I’ve been playing BOTB for almost a year and watch all the winners’ videos. I couldn’t believe it!”
The 37-year-old who works in banking said he played for the Honda because he wanted an electric city car.
“I love Honda and the fact it’s electric is a win-win for us as we live in London,” he added. “I also love all of the tech on the car – the camera wing mirrors, the dashboard, it’s all amazing!”
Mohammed paid just 90p for his ticket to enter the competition where he won the wheels but it wasn’t just the car he took home as Christian revealed a huge £40,000 in cash waiting for him in the boot.
“I’m sure a lot of it will go to the family and upgrading the house,” he said. “I’ll need to keep the rest and have a think!”
Mohammed is father to Abdul, eight, Amal, four, Rahaf, two, and lives with his wife Aysha, 33, in Walthamstow.
BOTB hands over the keys to two stunning cars each week as well as a lifestyle prize. Other recent winners have bagged £15,000 cash, a holiday to Las Vegas and a gaming tech bundle.
The company, listed on the stock market, was founded by William Hindmarch in 1999 and has given away more than £42m-worth of cars so far.
BOTB’s Christian, who surprises winners every week, was thrilled to give him the good news: “Mohammed played for an awesome car which is perfect for driving around the city. He seems like a lovely guy with a great family and I am super happy for them. Massive congratulations again, Mohammed!”
