London law firm Bolt Burdon Kemp make a difference at South East Cancer Help Centre
London law firm Bolt Burdon Kemp, is supporting the invaluable services provided by South East Cancer Help Centre (SECHC). SECHC is a charity who provide emotional, holistic and therapeutic support to those who have been diagnosed with cancer, and their families. The sponsorship will enable five different members of the Centre to attend 12 therapy sessions each over the coming year.
Bolt Burdon Kemp see the direct impact that a cancer diagnosis can have on an individual and their loved ones, and believe it is important for them to get access to incredible support services such as provided by the SECHC. The NHS is already under extreme pressure to provide the medical treatment those faced with a cancer diagnosis receive. Whilst the intention is there to support those with cancer in an increasingly holistic environment, the resource is not there due to ever increasing budget cuts to the NHS. The SECHC are passionate about helping people to improve the quality of their lives and enabling them and their families to face their diagnosis with positivity and hope.
Senior solicitor at Bolt Burdon Kemp, Hannah Travis said, ‘It has been an absolute pleasure to attend the centre on a number of occasions in full swing and meet the members it helps support and experience the warmth and welcoming atmosphere that it provides. The Centre is plugging a much needed gap as we all know that a positive outlook towards treatment can reap huge benefits in respect of a long term prognosis’.
South East Cancer Help Centre (SECHC) is a charity which confidentially helps over 300 people a year affected by cancer. Recognised by the local NHS and enlisting the help of professionally qualified therapists, they give anyone affected by cancer an opportunity to explore ways which may help them better cope with their situation.
A member of the organisation said, ‘When my mum was diagnosed with Breast Cancer I quickly spiralled back into depression that I had previously suffered, and knew I’d need some friendly support. I got that from SECHC. No judgement, just a friendly word, or a treatment to de-stress. This place is amazing, as are the staff and volunteers’.
