LONDON LIFE COACH USES TRAUMA OF MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT TO HELP BRING WOMEN BACK FROM THE BRINK
After discovering the man she planned to marry was secretly gay and then being seriously injured in a motorbike crash, life coach Tamara Kramer knows all about how to overcome adversity.
Tamara, who was born in Spain but now lives in London, was a model with a passion for dance in her home nation and went on to be tour manager assistant and head of wardrobe for Jason Derulo before settling in the UK.
“I came to the UK in 2001 with a huge amount of experience, though I was soon hit with the first traumatic episode of my life,” she said. “I found out my partner at the time was gay, a man who I believed I was going to spend my life with.
“I never thought it would happen to me – we even bought a house together.”
Following the separation from her former partner, Tamara experienced her most life-changing episode in 2003 when she was involved in a motorbike accident.
“I woke up and was unable to move my legs with the doctors saying I would have to live in a wheelchair from then on,” she said. “I had multiple slipped discs and had broken both of my ankles.
“As someone who had danced my whole life, it was devastating to think that this would be taken from me.”
Tamara was able to recover after multiple operations, eventually learning to walk again – though her emotional recovery was even tougher. She said: “All of this trauma and the prospect of not being to go on as I was before led me to thoughts of suicide.
“I managed to pull myself from the brink by escaping the limits I put on myself.”
After her ordeal, Tamara studied to become a certified life coach and gained her personal trainer certificate in 2014, wanting to use her own experience to help those who were in the same position.
“Women who’ve had experiences like mine can find that they’re limited – not just by the world but by themselves,” she said. “They can often feel cut off from the world and see no way back – but I want to teach them that they can.
“It was not an easy journey for me but I came out on top and I want to share that.”
Tamara, who is studying with Tony Robbins’ team, said: “Everything I do is built on love and I believe people can change no matter where they are in their life. For the past few years I have helped women to get back on track after depression, motivated them to go for new career paths in my WOMEN ACADEMY.”
In 2010, Tamara’s journey continued when she founded Studio 68 London, where top artists and choreographers have visited to rehearse for the likes of X-Factor, So You Think You Can Dance and Strictly Come Dancing.
