London Self Storage Company opens community collection points for winter clothes donations

Premium self-storage company, Attic Self-Storage, is calling upon all local households to donate warm clothing at their sites across the Capital to help support families through the cost of living crisis.

The winter of 2022/23 is expected to be a financial squeeze for many, with experts suggesting the number of households in fuel poverty will increase from the 6.7 million already reached in April 2022.

As part of the Winter Warmer Campaign, collection points have already been set-up at Attic Self-Storage’s facilities and are now accepting coats, fleeces, hats, socks and hand warmers. All items must either be new or remain in a good, clean condition if previously used.

Attic will match the donations received with new items throughout the campaign*, which runs until the end of February 2023.

In addition, the company has pledged to donate £5 to local food banks across London each time a new customer moves in to their storage facilities. Donations totaling more than £1,500 have already been made last month.

Sophie Bagnall, Attic’s spokesperson says, “We want to ensure each and every one of our stores has a positive impact on its local community. By creating collection points at our five sites in London we hope to make it easier for the nearby residents who can, to donate warm clothes and we’ll help ensure they get to those who need them most. Our aim is to help at least 500 people.

As well as this, we are keen to support the local food banks with donations which we believe is a meaningful way to further support the communities in which we work.”

Food banks across Britain are already warning of a “completely unsustainable” surge in demand that will prevent them feeding the hungriest families this winter.
