London street food brand launches in Peckham
LONDON’S fastest growing street food restaurant and bar brand, Market Place London, has announced it will be opening the doors to a new venue in the heart of Peckham’s bustling high street later this summer.
Located at Unit 10, The Aylesham Centre, the new Market Place Peckham site is set to be a foodie haven, and will feature stunning interiors, a variety of food options from ten street food vendors and an exciting roster of events.
The new venue will be launched under the management of general manager, Jonny Wallis, who has been in the hospitality industry for over 25 years, having worked on the openings team of national food brand, Turtle Bay, where he helped to grow the brand from the ground up.
All ten of the location’s vendor units are set to offer delectable food options from a fresh set of local and independent street food businesses ready to make an impression amongst the busy high street’s trendy eateries and late-night drinking destinations.
Jonny Wallis, general manager of Market Place Peckham, said: “Market Place is an ambitious brand that has already grown so much over the past year. It’s clear they have an incredible future ahead, and a successful recipe for success – one that places great quality food, support for independents and fun experiences at its core.
“I’m really excited to be joining them on this journey, and look forward to helping them take the brand to the next level by building a community around the vibrant new site at Market Place Peckham.”
As with Market Place’s other sites, Market Place Peckham promises an eclectic array of tasty treats from a selection of street food vendors. The first vendor to join the new line up is authentic Thai street food slingers KraPow, who will be serving their high-end fried chicken menu. Expect their fan favourites like the Buttermilk Thai Fried Chicken Sandwich and spicy pumpkin fritters with roasted chilli jam to be there.
Million pound menu winner and Indian-inspired burger connoisseurs at Baba G’s will also be joining the team and serving up their famous Bhangra burgers, spiced popcorn shrimp and Celeriac Bhajis.
The third vendor to be announced is up-and-coming Hawaiian street food brand Huli Huli, which promises to bring the people of Peckham the spirit of Hawaii in authentic Huli Huli Chicken and Ribs with grilled pineapple and a range of delicious homemade sauces and spices, such as Pineapple Mango Chilli Ketchup.
Blake Henderson, managing director of Market Place London, said: “Peckham is such an important venue for us that holds a special place in our hearts. We’re proud to be a part of the local community in the heart of south London’s lively cultural scene, and we want to contribute as best we can, giving the people of Peckham a really unique and memorable experience when they visit us. Our new general manager Jonny, brings so much experience to the role, and it’s exciting to have him onboard.”
“We’re looking forward to welcoming plenty of new talent to Market Place Peckham when we launch too. For us, the Market Place brand has always been about giving small independent street food brands the opportunity to establish a presence on a busy high street at a fraction of the cost of a standalone site. And that’s certainly no exception at our new Peckham site. We already have some truly fantastic vendors on board, and we’re excited to reveal the full line-up over the coming weeks, so watch this space.”
The launch comes hot on the heels of the brand’s hugely successful launch at Market Place Harrow in April and joins the team’s two other popular locations in Vauxhall and Hounslow.
The news follows the closure of the team’s previous Peckham venue, located at the same site, but Peckham foodies can expect a brand new space when the new site opens its doors later this summer.
