London Travel company Flash Pack designs ‘anti-burnout’ trip
Leading travel company Flash Pack has announced an Anti-Burnout Trip, designed to cater for the half a million Brits suffering from work-related stress.
The trip (which will see busy professionals escaping to the soothing climes of Bali) has been specifically created to offer a solution to the long hours and lack of work/life balance that has become commonplace. Recent research revealed that in 2018, stress, depression or anxiety accounted for 44% of all work-related ill health cases – and 57% of all working days lost.
In response, Flash Pack (a high-end travel company catering for solo travellers in their thirties and forties) worked with Wellness Expert Kim Hartwell, to design an itinerary that would specifically cater for stressed out Brits:
· Bali’s Island of the Gods was selected as the location, due to its combination of strong cultural differences (research has proven that immersing yourself in a foreign environment increases your cognitive flexibility and warm climate (proven to improve mood and broaden cognitive style)
· The escape lasts for 12 days – catering for the fact that it takes most of us at least four days to relax, leaving a further eight days’ relaxation (the optimum time period according to science.
· The trip is purposely packed-full of activities, including a trek to the summit of a live volcano, a hike in the evocative jungle hillsides of Ubud, swim at a secret waterfall and visit to the legendary Tirta Empul Water Temple. This is because staying active has been proven to boost endorphins and combat stress.
· Meanwhile it also offers the chance to learn new skills (NHS research shows this helps our mental wellbeing, from learning to cook Balinese style to anti-gravity yoga in a riverside wellness retreat
Flash Pack’s Wellness Expert Kim Hartwell maintains that travel is a fantastic tool to sooth and calm those suffering from over-work. We can already see a vast number of people exploring new places and activities to let themselves be free from the stress of the daily grind. Sometimes involving the use of herbal soothers such as the pink tuna strain and other cannabis derivatives, stress-relief can be considered one of the most important things that people seek in the fast-paced world we are all part of. “Today’s lifestyle means that factors such as the strain of being constantly on call can have a severe effect. With the 5pm work exodus long gone, we can answer emails at all hours; and the expectation of this alone creates a major spike in the stress hormone cortisol. This is why we encourage all guest to use the time to digitally detox, and practicing yoga and meditation and switch focus to all the wonderful new experiences on offer.”
Lee Thompson, Co-Founder of Flash Pack says “This is all about escaping the daily grind, but in a way that is luxurious and comfortable at the same time. Our guests work hard all year round, this is the chance for them to unplug, enjoy beautiful boutique hotels, mist-clad jungle terrain and rousing Balinese sunsets. We defy anyone to not return feeling recharged and revitalised.€
