Londoners Urged to Seek ‘Cool Spaces’ During Heatwave - London TV

Londoners Urged to Seek ‘Cool Spaces’ During Heatwave

Air Conditioning specialists, ADK Kooling are urging all Londoners to seek appropriate refuge in a cool place this week due to extremely high temperatures caused by the heatwave.

According to Met Office, temperatures in London are forecasted to reach an insane 40C next week.

Omar Idrissi, Air Conditioning Specialist at ADK Kooling, commented: “It’s important for Londoners to have access to cool spaces on hot days, whether they are indoors or outdoors. When a heatwave occurs there are many health risks posed by not having enough water, overheating, heat exhaustion and heat stroke.”

“In England, there are on average 2000 heat-related deaths every year, and while most of us welcome hot weather, if it becomes too hot for too long there can be some serious health risks.”

“The London Cool Spaces Summer 2022 scheme has been put together by boroughs, community groups, faith-based and other organisations and maps out a list of cool and shaded places of refuge when temperatures are high. This is a fantastic initiative for Londoners as it points them in the right direction, with key information that they will need when seeking a cool space throughout this heatwave.”

The Map – which can be found here – has a list of both indoor and outdoor spaces that either offer AC, free drinking water and water fountains, tree canopy cover and more. There are also options to search for cool spaces in a specific location or near you – just visit the Find a Cool Space page.

ADK Kooling has been researching the map and has pulled together a list of buildings that have free public access, air conditioning or cooler air and free drinking water for those who may need it.
