Harry Potter, Stamford Bridge and a speed boat down the River Thames might sound like a rogue plot from the popular film franchise, but they are all London based winners in the third annual GetYourGuide awards.

The 2020 GetYourGuide Awards celebrate the local experiences sparking travel’s comeback. The travel community in the United Kingdom and Ireland voted on the 75 nominations across three different categories: Best Family-Friendly Experiences, Best Tours for Locals and Incredible Tour Guides.

In the capital, there were three winning experiences. Chelsea Football Club’s Stadium and Museum Tour and Thames Rocket’s Speed Boat Tour of the River Thames both won out in the Best Family Friendly Experience category. In the Incredible Tour Guides category, the London based See Your City’s Harry Potter Film Locations Tour with River Cruise was also a winner.

“The uncertainty we all feel in 2020 has forced many people to change their plans to spend holidays closer to home,” says Jo Fennell, GetYourGuide’s Country Manager for the UK. “We’ve seen that people will always want to get out and explore, even if their horizons aren’t quite as broad as they would have been without the pandemic.
